New years resolutions are very important for some people, and most likely the same for you. New years resolutions are mainly goals that an individual sets aside to work on during a year. Stats have definitely shown that people don’t keep their resolutions for the whole year. The actually numbers are
between five and twenty percent, whom don’t keep their new years resolution. Many individuals forget about their resolutions in the first few weeks of making them. There are some tips you should follow in order to make good resolutions and most importantly, to achieve them. Goals are very important, and if you set them accordingly, you will benefit from them in the end. If you had no idea of what you were doing, then you would just write down all the things that came to your mind. This is a good strategy, there is nothing wrong with it, but there is a more efficient method which you can follow. Just because there is way to do them does not mean you can’t add anything you want. If you believe you need to achieve a major goal, you can surely add it. Any type of goal is resolution, does not matter if it is small or big. However, your goal should be something you can handle or carry out. It can be a goal you though of or one that was recommended to you by someone.
Let’s begin with some important tips and advices. Firstly, you should make sure your goal is reasonable, in other words, it should be realistic. By realistic, we mean that you should be able to take this goal and convert into an achievement in a fixed amount of time. If it is close to impossible, it is not really considered reasonable. An example can be with someone who wants to loose weight. If Jill wants to loose one hundred pounds in two weeks, that is very un-realistic. Something more realistic is; fifteen pounds in three months. You should take a notepad and start jotting down some big goals and small goals you may have. After completing your list, you need to create method of action, which will be used to achieve your goal. A method of action is a series of things you will be doing to achieve your goal; in our example; it was loosing weight. If it is loosing weight, your method of action can be an exercise schedule.
In order for you to stay motivated, you should let others know what your
resolutions are. In this case, they will be looking after you and seeing the improvements. Your friends / relatives will know that you are doing something very important, and they will support you in anyway they can. Many people loose motivation and they stop taking any plan of action. In order to keep it a habit, you should do it for one month straight. After doing it for one month, it will become a habit, and you will see some improvements. Keep your goals measurable, because you want to be able to track your progress. Your progress should be weighable or countable, in order to write specific numbers down. It is important to keep a progress report; you can write how you feel and where you are at in your journey to achievement.
