In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of people who aim at loosing weight. Prior to this boost, other issues were common, such as quit smoking, get a better job and even save money. Loosing weight is not a bad idea, since millions of people do it on a daily basis, but the actually achievement of this goal is the question. Your goals will not be achieved if you do nothing on your part; it takes time and effort in order to get something done right. People choose loosing weight as their most important goal, but have no idea on where to start. They do not know how to loose weight or where to go for advice. In order to begin, you need to set a measurable goal. By measurable we mean that you should be able to view some progress in your tasks. An example would be; setting a target of loosing forty pounds in six months. It is essential to keep a chart with your progress, so you can look back to through your accomplishments. On the chart you can take down your weight on a daily basis, so you can compare it to the amount of work you are doing.</p>

Many individuals forget about their resolutions in the first few weeks of making them. There are some tips you should follow in order to make good resolutions and most importantly, to achieve them. Goals are very important, and if you set them accordingly, you will benefit from them in the end. If you had no idea of what you were doing, then you would just write down all the things that came to your mind. This is a good strategy, there is nothing wrong with it, but there is a more efficient method which you can follow. Just because there is way to do them does not mean you can’t add anything you want. Sure, it’s easy to think of a couple of things and write them down, but it is not so easy to actually keep to them. Statistics show that twenty percent of the population that makes new years resolutions; do not actually stay motivated to follow through with them. It always starts with someone picking something they want to do, such as loosing weight. They write it down at number one on their list, and they create an action plan which they will follow. Two weeks down the road, they get de-motivated and don’t feel like following through on their plans, and this is the leading issue in regards to New Year’s resolutions. Once you loose interest in your number one goal, the whole list is pretty much gone. You would have forgotten all about your resolutions and you are back where you started; the time before you wrote your resolutions. There are many options out there, which provide help to people, but they sometimes come with a cost. If you continue reading, you learn some basic tips; which will help you make a promise to yourself; to stay motivated. In the end, you would feel amazing to see what you have accomplished, and there will be others around you to celebrate this achievement.</p>

Next, you need to create an action which you will follow on a daily basis; such as a schedule of your exercises. Track your progress on a chart on a weekly basis, so you can see how you improved. When you have everything written down on paper, post it somewhere you will see it everyday. Don’t leave it in your folder or in your drawer; put it up on the fridge, or on the wall. If you see it everyday, you will be remembered of what to do. Let your friends and relatives know about your new years resolutions, so they are aware of it. If they know you are trying to achieve a goal, they will be willing to help you stay motivated. If at any point, they notice you are getting off track, they can help you get back on. You would be more willing to do it because; you know people are counting on you to achieve your goal.</p>

A new year’s resolution should be just a goal which you wish to achieve in a period of one year. If you plan on achieve your goal, you should make sure that your goal is realistic. Once you have made a realistic goal, focus on what you will do to achieve your goal. If you plan on loosing weight, you can get more exercise and eat well. There is nothing hard about the initial process, the only hard part is staying motivated and going through with it.</p>

It is a simple method used in almost any situation, where there is an end goal. In terms of schooling, the SMART principle is taught to students starting from high school. If your plan is to ‘loose weight’, it is considered very vague. To be specific, you should write down something similar to, ‘I want to loose twenty pounds this year’. When someone reads your goal, they should be able to follow it themselves as well.</p>

It will help when you are tracking your progress, or if you want to explain to someone, who you are improving.
